Born and raised south of the Red River in Sherman, Texas, Matt's interest in weather began in grade school when a local TV meteorologist came to speak to one of his classes. It was at that moment that he knew he wanted to be a TV meteorologist.
Matt received his Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology with a minor in mathematics from the University of Oklahoma. In November of 2006, he got his first job in Wichita Falls, Texas as the weekday morning meteorologist at NBC affiliate KFDX for three years. Returning to Oklahoma in December of 2009, he joined the News 9 weather team as the weekend morning meteorologist.
He'll tell you his favorite kind of weather are days mostly seen in the Pacific Northwest: gray, cool, and wet, but can't deny his love of exciting weather, which Oklahoma never lacks. Matt is a big Sooner fan and will take any chance he gets to attend a Thunder game. He loves being back in the Sooner State to work with Oklahoma's #1 weather team and forecast Oklahoma's wild weather.
