Demonic Drawing, Other Evidence Recovered In Midwest City Couple's Murder

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- News 9 has uncovered new, disturbing information regarding the brutal murder of a Midwest City couple and the arrest of their grandson and two of his friends.

According to the search warrant, police collected more than 50 pieces of evidence from the home of David and Rose Garrick. Most shocking of which was a demonic drawing found in one of the bedrooms.

News 9 spoke with a former police investigator turned private eye about what the drawing could reveal about the teen accused of committing the crime.

Robert Smart received training on how to read these kinds of drawings and said a lot of teens start dabbling in Satanism and the occult by surfing the Internet.

But he said not all Satanists are drawn to kill.

"The satanic bible does not promote murder it promotes self indulging. You are the most important thing in the whole universe," said Smart.

The couple's grandson, Kyle Smith, lived with them and was arrested just hours after his grandparents' bodies were found in their burned-out house. Smith is accused of killing them both with a machete and enlisting two friends, Jason LeBlanc and Dustin Martin, to help him cover up the crime. Police say the three poured gas on the bodies and around the house, and used a lighter to start a fire.

"Its blind anger. They're not thinking, their not rational, they're not reasonable and if there's something that an adolescent has been storing and keeping inside, it may just be a small thing that triggers that rage that's in there and it comes out like Mount Vesuvius," said psychologist Dr. Stewart Beasley. 

Police are also studying video taken by a surveillance camera at a neighbor's house. Investigators say it shows the three teens driving up to the house, then later driving away while smoke can be seen coming out of the house.

Right now Kyle Smith, Jacob Leblanc and Dustin Martin are all in jail but are yet to be formally charged. Police asked the D.A.'s office for more time so they can complete their investigation saying they have a lot of evidence and interviews to process.
