OKLAHOMA CITY -- A judge in Oklahoma County has denied bond to an Oklahoma City police sergeant accused of molesting his adopted 16-year-old son.

Sgt. Maurice Martinez was arraigned via video Monday morning. Prosecutors have charged Martinez with 35 felonies and two misdemeanors stemming from allegations he molested four teenage boys.

Despite being denied bond, Martinez pleaded his case to the judge.

"I got elderly parents. I got a bunch of stuff I got to do. Is there any way you can set a bond please?" Martinez asked a judge during a video arraignment Monday.

Police began investigating Martinez in January when his adopted son told someone Martinez was molesting him. Since then, three more victims have come forward claiming Martinez also abused them.

The charges against Martinez include possession of child pornography, threatening a witness, harboring a runaway, and conspiracy.

Martinez's attorney, Irven Box, said he will be filing a motion for bond as early as Tuesday.

"We think this thing could drag on for months even up to a year, and so therefore we're going to ask for bail to be set so he can be home with the parents during the time that he's awaiting the finish of this particular criminal proceedings," Box said.

Despite the charges those closest to Martinez, including his family, said they are standing behind him.
