OKC Police Officer Charged With Sexual Abuse To Ask Again For Bond

OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City police officer will be in court Monday to once again plead for a judge to set his bond.

Oklahoma City Police Sergeant Maurice Martinez was arraigned Tuesday on 37 counts that included crimes of sexual abuse.

Prosecutors will likely be arguing against a bond being set for Martinez Monday. Martinez previously pleaded with a judge to set a bond for him.

"I got elderly parents. I got a bunch of stuff I got to do. Could you set a bond, please?" Martinez said during Tuesday's video arraignment.

Martinez's attorney, Irven Box, said the big reason they are urging the judge to set a bond is because they believe the court proceedings could take up to year. Right now the charges against Martinez involve sexual abuse against four boys while in his care, one of the children being his adopted son.

Martinez is also charged with possession of child pornography, threatening a witness, harboring a runaway child, and conspiracy.

Martinez is scheduled to be in court Monday morning.
