OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office says a deputy who was shot in the head is showing a lot of progress and recovering well.
Major John Waldenville was shot on Saturday, May 21. He was working as a security guard for Cattlemen's Steakhouse and taking money from the restaurant to the bank when two men robbed and shot him. Both suspects have been arrested.
A CT scan revealed Waldenville's condition had improved, so doctors removed a pressure bolt and tube from his skull Wednesday. The wires holding his jaw have also been cut. The sheriff's office says Waldenville is still sedated, but is able to follow some commands. He is also able to move his hands, arms, and lips.
Prosecutors have charged the two shooting suspects, 18-year-old Keonta Prince and 29-year-old Christopher Baker, with shooting with intent to kill and armed robbery. They've both been denied bond.
