Bank Robbery Suspects Killed In Pushmataha County Shootout

A shootout in Pushmataha County between Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and bank robbery suspects ended with two men dead Thursday.

RATTAN, Oklahoma -- A shootout in Pushmataha County between Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and bank robbery suspects ended with two men dead Thursday.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a bank robbery occurred Thursday afternoon in Wright City, east of Antlers.

Officers set up a road block along State Highway 3, west of Rattan, to catch the suspects.  

The OHP said a trooper spotted what he thought was the suspect vehicle speed past him. The trooper took off after the car and that's when things turned deadly.

"The suspect vehicle then ran a road block went out into a field where shots were fired between the Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and the suspect vehicle," Lt. George Brown said.

The suspects' car crashed.

Two men and one woman were inside the vehicle, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Troopers said both men were shot.  One died at the scene and the other died later.

The woman was taken to the Pushmataha County Sheriff's office for questioning.

The troopers involved were not hurt.

No names have been released.

The FBI, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Pushmataha County Sheriff's Office are investigating.
