OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma – The FBI said it will release more information Friday on its investigation into a bomb that was found strapped to a gas line near Okemah Wednesday.

Federal authorities were able to defuse the bomb before it did any damage.  Their efforts have now turned to who planted it.

An employee from the company that owns the gas line found the bomb during a routine check.

"Definitely had all the appearances of a bomb set to go off," said Okfuskee County Sheriff Jack Choate.

According to the Oklahoma office of Homeland Security, that's exactly what has to happen.  They depend on the public to be vigilant.  A spokesperson from the agency says especially here in Oklahoma we know everything has to treated as a credible threat.

All calls go through the state fusion center where analysts evaluate them to see if they're credible.  The center ensures any information doesn't get lost with local authorities.

A Homeland Security spokesperson said even a disgruntled citizen with the means and motives can be extremely dangerous.
