CARROLLTON, Texas – Police are trying to figure out who killed an Oklahoma City girl who disappeared from an apartment complex in Carrollton, Texas late Saturday night.
According to the Carrollton Police Department, 10-year-old Jasmen Gonzalez was last seen at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, at an apartment complex located in the 1300 block of Walnut Street in Carrollton.
Police said her body was discovered Sunday afternoon near that apartment complex.
According to police, officers initially thought Gonzalez left the apartment while sleep walking, but they are now saying she was abducted.
"We'll take it one step at a time. We'll be very methodical in what we do, and we will come to a resolution," said Lt. Doug Mitchell with the Carrollton Police Department.
Police have not made any arrests and they have not named any suspects. They are, however, speaking to a person of interest who they say is a friend of the family. Investigators have also examined an SUV that may be related to the case.
According to the police department, Gonzalez and her family live in Oklahoma City and were visiting relatives who live in that apartment in Carrollton.
Gonzalez attended John Glenn Elementary School in the Western Heights Public School District in Oklahoma City. She was in the fourth grade.
Anyone with information about the homicide is encouraged to call police at (972) 466-3333.
