The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says a westbound lane of Interstate 40 near Shawnee that was closed because of an expansion joint problem has reopened.
Officials said the work was completed about 2 p.m. Monday.
The joint buckled on a bridge about 3 a.m., and highway crews arrived to work on the road about 6 a.m. A spokesman says crews had to replace the expansion joint.
Ramps at the U.S. Highway 177 interchange were closed and have also reopened.
The 15-foot piece of metal jutted out of the road early Monday morning. It flattened the tires of several vehicles before the lane was closed.
