A local pastor gets death threats after speaking out about a change in city policy. This comes one day after he voiced opposition to adding sexual orientation to the city's anti-discrimination policy.

There were several calls made to Fairview Baptist Church threatening parishioners Wednesday.

The pastor, Paul Blair, believes the caller is attacking him for coming forward at the council meeting Tuesday morning.

The unknown caller said, "I have committed homicide more than one time and in more than one state, and yet have not been caught or charged. Think about that."

The calls began about 4:15 Wednesday morning and were left on the church's answering machine. By the fifth messages the man was yelling.

"The calls were more and more violent and got more and more vile and more and more threatening," Blair said.

"It is highly recommended that you have somebody to answer the phone of your church, especially the dumb a** pastor Blair. Women should not be in a position in a church of employment, that is non-Christian," the caller said.

Blair had Edmond police take a listen.

"I try and used the common sense the good Lord has given me. We do plan and prepare, but, ultimately, at the end of the day, the Lord is not going to take me to heaven til my work on earth is done," Blair said.

Blair said, as a man, he wants to protect his wife, but since he's a pastor he will pray for the caller.
