The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says the death of a Guthrie man found in his home has been ruled a homicide.

The OSBI says in a news release that Guthrie police requested assistance after the body of Francis Maurice Byrd, 60, was found Saturday in a home in the 1200 block of East Vilas, on the east side of town.

The OSBI says the state medical examiner's office has ruled the death a homicide. The cause of death was not released.

Police found the body after being asked by Byrd's family to check on him because he had missed a family gathering.

Anyone who spoke to Byrd either Thursday or Friday, or knows something about the shooting, is asked to call the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017.
