Woman Arrested For Murder Of Guthrie Man

Police in Kaufman County, Texas, have arrested 65-year-old Beverly Rhea McColm  in the shooting death of a man inside his Guthrie home.

Guthrie Police found Francis Maurice Byrd, 60, dead on Sunday, December 11, after his relatives asked police to conduct a welfare check. Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation say he was shot several times and killed on Wednesday, December 7.

Investigators say McColm and Byrd were acquaintances. They also say McColm had recently loaned money to Byrd.

During the investigation, OSBI agents discovered surveillance video from a church near Byrd's home that placed McColm at the crime scene at the time Byrd was killed.

McColm was booked into the Kaufman County jail. Authorities are working to extradite her to Oklahoma.
