Suspect In Midwest City Mom's Murder May Have Used Loan To Pay For Killing

Court documents indicate a man accused of paying $250 for the murder of his estranged wife may have gotten the money for the killing from a payday loan business.

Oklahoma County prosecutors have charged Fabion Brown with two counts of first-degree murder for the death of his estranged wife, Jessica McPherson-Brown, and her unborn child. Brown's girlfriend, Emily Matheson, is also charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

McPherson-Brown was shot to death in her Midwest City home on January 11.

Investigators say Brown hired Brodric Glover to kill McPherson-Brown because Brown was behind on his child support payments and worried he could be sent to jail. According to a search warrant, Brown told police that the day before his estranged wife was killed he obtained a loan from Advance America, a payday loan business.

Brown told detectives he planned to use the money to pay for a trip to Texas. Investigators say he also indicated Matheson may have planned and paid for the murder on her own. When a detective asked Brown where Matheson would have gotten the money, he answered she may have obtained it from Advance America.

Police later contacted the payday loan business, and discovered both Brown and Matheson were customers, and had received loans just before McPherson-Brown was murdered.
