The Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County is hosting a prom dress give-away. The free event is scheduled for Friday, March 30 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County, 3535 North Western.
The event is open to all high school students. Dresses will be provided on a first come-first serve basis. Any high school student attending a prom this year is welcome to select a dress. The dresses were donated by members of the community and collected by Regina Roberts, founder of Bound 4 Glory & Beyond, Inc.
"Prom is supposed to be a magical, stress-free time for a teen," said Roberts, event coordinator. "Parents already have to pay so many senior fees. Teen girls should feel beautiful without the worry of financial stress on their parents or themselves to get dresses."
The dresses were first collected for seniors at the Boys & Girls Club where more than 90% of the Club members are eligible for free or reduced price meals.
"This is a great opportunity to help some of our Club members enjoy prom, who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford a dress," said Jane Sutter, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County. "Thanks to Regina's help several of our girls will benefit from the kindness of others in the community."
If anyone wishes to donate a dress, they are welcome to drop it off at the Boys & Girls Club front desk.
