A woman used a plunger to fight off two armed men during a home invasion in a Piedmont neighborhood.
The victim was in the shower when she heard glass break. She grabbed for the only weapon she could: a plunger.
Trent Cornman was fishing while two armed men broke in his neighbor's house and beat his neighbor's fiancée. Police knew he would be a great witness, but he didn't see a thing because they broke in through the backdoor.
"If I would've seen them go in that front door when I was sitting here, they would have been hit with the wrong end of a 12-gauge shot gun. Sitting here watching you would never guess that they were going in and out of that backdoor," Cornman said.
Cornman may not have been watching, but he says the two burglars were.
"They were waiting for her to get home when they hit that back door. They knew what they were doing and they knew what they were after," he said.
The woman's fiancé says the men picked up her loaded gun off of the kitchen table, but she fought them with a plunger.
"People out here in Canadian County are friendly and all until you start breaking in our doors. Then you get you're a** shot off," he said.
The intruders ran away. The woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers searched the neighborhood for nearly five hours Wednesday night, but the suspects were never found.
