Firefighters discovered a body Thursday night in a house just southeast of the Oklahoma State University campus.

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. near 15th Avenue and Fern Street. Someone passing by saw the fire and called the fire department.

"I'm pretty sure it was a passerby that called in," said Stillwater Deputy Fire Marshal Neil Moore. "I did do some talking with some of the neighbors, and some people driving down the road stopped and ran to the house trying to obtain whether or not there was anybody inside."

Two people were inside the house but only one managed to escape. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about 30 minutes.

Investigators have not released the name of the victim. It's not known if the residents were OSU students.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.
