The Bricktown Association released a statement Tuesday expressing concern for the victims of Monday night's shooting, and reinforcing its stance that Bricktown is a safe, family friendly area.

Someone opened fire around 11:30 p.m. near the Sonic headquarters at Mickey Mantle Drive and Reno. There were thousands of people milling around outside because of the Thunder game at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Just minutes after the Thunder clinched the series against the Lakers, shots rang out.

Oklahoma City police said eight people were struck. One person is in critical condition, but the other seven are expected to recover. A pregnant woman was either kicked or hit after the gunshots were fired. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police have not arrested any suspects in the shooting.

The Bricktown Association said Tuesday it takes the security of visitors very seriously, and is praying for the victims. The association said it's determined to keep the area safe:

"The incident that occurred following the Thunder game on May 21 is not a reflection on the safety and security of the Downtown or Bricktown areas, but rather an isolated event, and just happened to occur in Bricktown as the Thunder game let out and crowds were walking towards the parking area in lower Bricktown.

We will continue to work with OKCPD and support any and all efforts to deter this type of incident from happening again."
