A Choctaw boy is saying "I told you so" to his family, after a close encounter with an alligator Wednesday afternoon.
Jeffery Henry's family lives next to a large pond. Jeff, 11, says he's been telling his mother and grandmother for more than a week that there is a small alligator lurking in the same waters many people like to swim in and fish.
He saw the alligator again on Wednesday.
Jeffery called his grandmother on his cell phone and chased after the alligator in a canoe. When the 11 year old got close enough, he says he grabbed the alligator by its tail.
"I know that [it was dangerous], but I've seen plenty of those shows and I know where to grab it and what time and how," Jeffery told News 9.
Jeffrey's grandmother eventually shot and killed the alligator with a shotgun. She says she was concerned for her grandson's safety.
An officer with Oklahoma's Department of Wildlife and Conservation hauled the dead alligator away.
