A Tulsa homeowner shot a suspect twice in the legs after the suspect broke into his home. It happened around 11:30 Tuesday night in North Tulsa.
Police say an undercover officer saw a man in a wrecker transporting a van, hit a sport utility vehicle near Newton and Lewis.
The wrecker stopped at Newton Place and Lewis Place, and the driver ran off. That's when police found out the wrecker was stolen.
A few minutes later police got a call from a woman living on Newton Street saying someone was in her backyard.
Police canvassed the area, and about 25 minutes later they were flagged down by people saying somebody had been shot.
"Folks were here in their home. They were in the living room. While they were inside the house someone burst through the door. The homeowner got his firearm, shot the intruder and the intruder is taken to the hospital," said Captain Karen Tipler with the Tulsa Police Department.
The man was loaded onto the stretcher. Police says he was shot twice in the legs.
Witnesses told police the intruder went through the front door while several people were inside the house.
Police determined that man is the same person who fled from the stolen wrecker.
Police expect the man to survive, and no one else was hurt.
