Dangerously high temperatures around the state are prompting serious warnings from area paramedics.
It's another day of triple-digit temperatures in the metro and paramedics say two things are very important if you're going to have to be out in the sun: water and shade. EMSA says those two things are key components to staying safe in this weather.
News 9 drove around the city on Sunday and saw a lot of people trying to stay cool at splash pads and bodies of water, but that's really not enough. Paramedics say staying well hydrated is paramount.

In just the past two weeks EMSA paramedics responded to at least 57 heat emergencies in the area. Thirty-nine of those patients were so serious they had to be taken to the hospital.
But those numbers might not tell the whole story. EMSA paramedics say a lot of times they get to a sick call, but it turns out to be heat-related. And in this heat, they say everyone needs to stay alert.
