A judge will sentence Tuesday afternoon a Yukon couple found guilty in June of abusing and neglecting their three adopted children.

Sonja Kluth was convicted of six counts of child abuse and neglect. The jury recommended a life sentence for one child abuse conviction, and 25 years for each of the five remaining charges.

Sonja's husband John Kluth was convicted of five counts of child abuse and neglect. The jury recommended 10 years for each conviction.

Canadian County prosecutors said the couple beat and tortured the children, forced them to stay in dog crates or a storm cellar, and often withheld food. Sometimes, the children were forced to eat pet food.
