Moore Police: Gun Left By Accident At Elementary School

Moore police have determined a gun found inside an elementary school Monday morning belongs to a relative of a teacher.

Plaza Towers Elementary School located at 852 S.W. 11th Street was placed on lockdown Monday morning after a loaded gun was found inside a classroom.

A teacher made the discovery after unlocking the classroom Monday around 8:00 a.m.

The lockdown lasted about an hour with teachers escorting four to five hundred students to the cafeteria while police searched the rest of the school.

"I'm scared to death," says Parent Pamela Rupert, who eventually was able to pick up her daughter. "I want my daughter and they won't give her to me." 

Detective used surveillance video from inside the school to discover that the weapon belongs to a relative of a teacher at Plaza Towers Elementary.

The relative has told police the gun, which was inside a holster, fell out of his back pocket while he was helping a teacher with some computer work inside a classroom this weekend.

The District Attorney's office will determine is the relative will face charges for bringing the gun to school.
