Two off-duty paramedics are in trouble with the law after getting into a fight outside a restaurant this past weekend.

It happened just before 11 p.m. Sunday outside of Old Chicago's Restaurant off of I-240.

Police arrested 38-year-old Erik Kilmer and 34-year-old David Wright. Both Kilmer and Wright are off-duty EMSA paramedics.

Police say they were there for a Union meeting. Wright and Kilmer had an argument outside. It ended with Wright "pistol-whipping" Kilmer with his gun.

"Both were arrested because both of them had firearms in their possession. It's my understanding that one drew his firearm and used it as a weapon against the other. While the other did not draw his firearm, he was intoxicated and had it in his possession," Cpt. Dexter Nelson said.

Both men do have their open carry licenses, but it is against the law to be drinking while in possession of your gun.

Police say the incident is still under investigation.

EMSA officials say both have been suspended from work without pay pending the investigation.
