A Norman middle school student wants to honor her fallen father by sending care packages to the men and women who served with him.

"It's just something I wanted to do," says Jordan Eshbaugh.

Eshbaugh's father, Sgt. Dan Eshbaugh, was killed in Iraq in 2008. At the time of his death, the family was planning to send him and his fellow soldiers care packages.

Jordan says she's going through the effort to, "let them know people care about them."

When Jordan found out that her father's unit was now deploying to Afghanistan, she made a pledge to send every single member of the unit a care package.

Jordan asked his middle school to help.

Whittier Middle in Norman says they'll help with the collection of items once money for shipping the care packages is secured.

"I didn't even know she was doing this," said Jordan's mom, Rachel Eshbaugh, about her daughter's campaign.

Jordan plans to hold garage sales and other fundraiser to pay for the shipping costs.

"When she's determined, she's going to do it," Rachel Eshbaugh said.
