CBS Sports is reporting the Thunder has acquired Ronnie Brewer from the New York Knicks for a second-round pick.
The seventh-year wing from Arkansas is known for his excellent defense yet inconsistent offensive game. Brewer has started 77 games over the past two seasons as a member of the Bulls and Knicks and is the final year of his deal, making just over $1 million.
Brewer is a career 8.4 points per game scorer on 49.3 percent shooting. He will likely be utilized as a defensive weapon against smaller, more athletic lineups, such as Miami's. Thunder GM Sam Presti says Brewer will provide the Thunder will solid depth.
"He is a versatile defender with playoff experience that will add depth to our wing positions," Presti said.
Multiple sources are also reporting that the Thunder has traded Eric Maynor to the Portland Trailblazers.
The fourth-year guard from VCU fell out of the Thunder's rotation earlier in the season and is the final year of his deal, making $2.3 million. Maynor took to Twitter to thank Thunder fans for their support:
"I want to thank the Oklahoma City Thunder for everything the last 3 years......appreciate all the love n support from the fans as well......"
The Thunder will receive a trade exception for Maynor.
