Parmelee Elementary School is currently under MAPS for Kids renovations. During the renovations, the construction crew tore the old tile up, causing dust particles to float in the air.

On Thursday afternoon, the Department of Labor came in for inspection and is concerned that the air quality is compromised.

As a precaution, and to ensure the safety of students and staff OKCPS administration made the decision to immediately relocate the students for the remainder of the day, to the rec center across the street from the school.

OKCPS buses transported the students late Thursday afternoon and parents can pick up their students from the relocation site.

Parents have been notified of the incident. Officials will conduct air samples Thursday evening and as a precaution school will be canceled on Friday, March 1 for Parmelee Elementary students.
