One person has been killed following an officer-involved shooting in northwest Oklahoma City Friday afternoon.
Just after 12 p.m. Friday, undercover officers responded to the report of narcotics activity at the Express Gas and Grocery, located in the 6200 block of N.W. Wilshire.
After officers arrived at the scene, they observed what appeared to be illegal drug activity occurring at a vehicle backed into the store's front parking lot, according to police.
Officers approached the vehicle and identified themselves as Oklahoma City police officers, that's when the suspect began driving towards one of the officers, hitting him.
The officer fired one shot at the suspect in self-defense. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer sustained minor injuries after being hit by the suspect's car. He was treated at the scene. He was placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the criminal and administrative investigations.
Police have not released the identity of the suspect pending notification of family.
Back in December, 2011, a 21-year-old man was found shot to death at the same gas station. Twenty-one-year-old Joseph Young and a 16-year-old suspect were arrested in connection with that shooting.
