Two people are behind bars for trafficking drugs out of their apartment. Del City Police arrested them in a raid Wednesday morning.

Investigators say this couple would take food stamp cards in exchange for pot. The woman would buy food stamp cards from people at a discount, use the cards to buy groceries and re-sell them at a profit.

Sadly, this was all going down in their apartment with five children inside. Before dawn, officers raided a Del City apartment in the 3200 block of South Bryant.

Police were familiar with the couple inside. Officers recently bought marijuana there in an undercover operation.

"We believe at this time that the lady who lives in this apartment's been operating a mini-stop type store out of her apartment," Del City Police Major Jodi Suit said.

Police say 31-year-old Sherray Deon Curry would buy food stamp cards for 50 cents on the dollar. She'd re-sell groceries for a profit along with marijuana.

Officers also arrested 33-year-old Tramell Wilson who lived with Curry. Five children lived there too, the youngest only a year old.

"One of the children is 14, and we even heard that child might be involved in some of it, but we don't know at this time, and we hope that's not true," Suit said.

News 9 is told the kids are OK, and all five were placed in DHS custody.

"Just to know that those children are safe now and not in that environment anymore, during the course of this we know the children are usually present in the house when these drug deals are going down," Major Suit said.

Police seized a quarter pound of marijuana, about $600 in cash and 19 cell phones. These were phones that are supposed to be given out through a federal government program, and investigators say they were likely selling those too.

Wilson and Curry are facing a number of charges for drugs, child neglect and food stamp trafficking.
