A driver was killed after he crashed his semi-truck near Hydro, Oklahoma, and it caught on fire early Wednesday morning.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, at about 4:43 a.m. troopers responded to the report of the crash near mile marker 93 on Interstate 40.

Troopers say a 2007 Freightliner semi-truck was westbound on I-40, when it ran off the roadway to the right for an unknown reason. The semi then crashed into a guardrail, overturned a quarter times, and came to rest on its passenger's side. That's when the semi caught on fire.

The driver was thrown out of the truck during the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities have not released his identity pending notification of family members.

One lane of I-40 westbound is shut down in the area as crews work to clear the scene.

There was a fire on the shoulder from the accident.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
