A Seminole woman was arrested after police say she stole an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper's scout car in Oklahoma City, on Sunday, May 12.
According to police, just before 1 a.m., officers responded to the report that someone had just stolen a trooper's scout car in the area of S.E. 25th Street and Interstate 35. The car was last seen traveling south at a high rate of speed from S.E. 25th.
The trooper told police that the suspect, 30-year-old Tasha Nichole Roberts, had been in the front seat of his scout car, when she jumped in the driver's seat when he was not in it and drove off.
The trooper said Roberts had not been searched and she was not handcuffed. He also told police there was a large amount of firearms stored in his scout car, because he was on the OHP Tact Team.
The scout car was found unoccupied at S.E. 31st and Mable. Authorities quickly set up a perimeter and began searching for the suspect.
With the help of K9 officer "Tank," officers were able to locate Roberts in a garbage container at a business in the 1300 block of S.E. 31st Street. However, Roberts remained still when the officers asked her to get out of the garbage container.
Due to the fact that Roberts was not being cooperative and could possibly have a weapon on her, officers ordered "Tank" to apprehend Roberts. That's when Tank jumped into the container and bit Roberts on the right hip.
Officers immediately called Tank off Roberts when she became cooperative and showed her hands. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for the dog bite.
Roberts has been booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on several charges, including larceny of auto, DUI-drug, and several Seminole County warrants.
