Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy announced Tuesday it has committed $2.5 million toward relief efforts for the deadly tornado that hit Moore on Monday.

Oklahoma City-based Devon Energy announced Tuesday it has committed $2.5 million toward relief efforts for the deadly tornado that hit Moore on Monday.

Devon says it will later asses the needs of tornado victims and recovery efforts, and determine if the company will contribute even more money.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of these tragic storms," said Devon President and Chief Executive Officer John Richels. "We are all saddened by the devastation, and as fellow Oklahomans, we want to do what we can to help our neighbors."

Chesapeake Energy Corporation announced Monday it will make a cash donation of $1 million to the American Red Cross to be used in the rescue and recovery efforts to aid the victims of the devastating tornadoes that hit Moore, Oklahoma earlier on Monday.
