Tulsa Police have identified the victim in Tulsa's 35th homicide of the year. James Mario Parker, 34, died following an apparent shoot out Friday night in the 5200 block of North Frankfort Place.

Police arrested shooting suspect Michael Lyke but have not charged him with murder.

"The contention is that it's self defense," said Sergeant Dave Walker, TPD Homicide Division. Witnesses told police that Parker showed up to Lyke's home with a gun, and the two exchanged fire.

"We have witnesses saying that's what occurred, so we can't in good faith charge him with murder."

Authorities say Parker ran from the home after being wounded and ran to a nearby residence. He later died at St. John Hospital.

Lyke has been arrested on complaints of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, knowingly concealing stolen property and several outstanding traffic misdemeanors.

He was released on bond Saturday night.

Police confirm that James Mario Parker has a past record of drug-related charges and was imprisoned on a 2005 drug possession charge.
