News 9's Dean Blevins reported Tuesday the redshirt freshman would be named the starter over junior Blake Bell.
It appeared that the starting job was Bell's to lose after spending the 2012 season as the backup to Landry Jones. However, Knight was able to showcase his talent throughout spring practice and made it a tight competition through two-a-days earlier this month.
"Both Trevor and Blake (Bell) have competed hard and both will be ready to play against Louisiana-Monroe," Stoops said in a statement. "Like every other position on our team, I expect them both to continue competing for the starting job."
