UPDATE: Since our story aired, on Monday, September 30, the bench has been found. Someone contacted the owner and arraigned a meeting to return the bench.
A south Oklahoma City woman is asking for the return of her most prized possession.
Devonne Davis moved into the South Harbor neighborhood about a month ago. She placed a light, unfinished, but beautiful wooden bench in her front yard. The bench was stolen sometime Tuesday.
Davis says it breaks her heart because her youngest son Jordan made the bench for her as a Mother's Day present four years ago. He gave it to her two days after she was diagnosed with Cancer. She says she just wants her bench back, no questions asked.
"That person could have taken anything in my house, anything. They could have taken my car for that matter," she said.
This theft is just the latest in a string of heartaches for the Davis family. Davis' father died last year from Cancer.
Her brothers restored their dad's 1972 Corvette Sting Ray for the funeral procession. However, the car was in the garage of Davis' brother Keith's home when it was destroyed in the May 20 Moore tornado.
If anybody knows anything about that bench, email me at steve.shaw@news9.net. Again, it's the South Harbor neighborhood, in South OKC.
