Conditions have become ideal for wildfires. This is because we have entered a warmer than normal weather pattern over the state. Also, over the last month much of western and northwest Oklahoma have only received a half an inch of rainfall or less.
This will remain a threat until we can see substantial rainfall. We think much of the state will be threatened by wildfires today, but the greatest risk looks to be in the worst drought areas of southwest Oklahoma.
As of 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Fire Warning today for an extreme wildfire threat.
If you see a fire develop today, be sure to let authorities know.
