Norman police find the body of a man buried in a makeshift grave near a home.

The body was found near the 6800 block of E. Robinson last Friday.

Officers were called on a welfare check nearly two weeks ago but could not find the man. That's when they filed a missing persons report.

At this point, Norman police are calling it a "death investigation," but they're also calling the discovery of the buried body suspicious and very questionable.

"Wrapped in a plastic bag and put in a plastic tote," Captain Todd Gibson with the Norman Police Department said.

A "No Trespassing" sign is clearly posted along the driveway of the home where the man's body was found buried, and the fence is chained shut.

"For somebody to be doing something out there, it would not be unusual for you to not be able to see it from the roadway," Captain Gibson said.

Neighbors said the family kept to themselves, and as a far as they know, there's never been any problems at the home.

In a shot from Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD, you can see what appears to be the makeshift grave.

"We're estimating that it's been out there since roughly sometime in February," Gibson said.

Investigators are not ready to call it a murder investigation until after the medical examiner's report is released.

Police said the man and a friend lived in the home, and that person is cooperating.

Right now, the body has not been officially identified.
