Green-Beckham Plans To Play For Sooners In 2015

Dorial Green-Beckham was the No. 1 high school recruit in America and went on to star at Missouri but was dismissed for off-the-field problems.

Since transferring to Oklahoma in April, the prevailing question has been whether or not he would stick around and play for the Sooners in 2015 or enter the draft if he lost his NCAA appeal for immediate eligibility.

Then 10 days ago, Green-Beckham indeed lost his NCAA appeal.

But News 9 Sports has learned on Monday that Green-Beckham plans to stay at OU and play next season, foregoing big NFL money.

I spoke with OU receivers coach Jay Norvell, who initially recruited DGB out of high school, played a big role in luring him to Norman after his dismissal from Mizzou and is close to the family.

Norvell says Green-Beckham has been committed to practice and doing things right and has been attentive, even on the field watching his teammates play in the opener.

And he's staying put.

“He's made a commitment to be here, he wants to go to school here and he wants to play football here at Oklahoma, so obviously we are going to help him improve here every day,” Norvell said. “This is not a year off for him, he's out there working every day, he's helping on the scout team and he's also trying to improve his skills as a receiver, as well as the off the field things, so it's an important development time for him."

As of now, DGB and suspended freshman running back Joe Mixon are attending class. If both follow through on their recent commitments to stay at Oklahoma, the Sooner offense would feature two No.1 overall national recruits at their positions in a four-year span.
