Two officers were shot, one person was killed and a number of others are in custody following a gun battle outside of a motel and a business in southeast Oklahoma City, Wednesday evening.

According to Oklahoma City Police, officers were originally called to the scene regarding a woman being held against her will at the Plaza Inn, located at 3200 S. Prospect Ave.

When officers arrived at the motel room, shots were fired at them through the door and window. One officer was struck in the shoulder and another officer was hit in the hand. Those officers were transported from the scene to OU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects from the initial shooting are believed to have bolted from the room and led police to the scene of a second shooting, about a half a mile south of the motel in front of Midwest Hose and Specialty, along the I-35 service road.

So far, News 9 has learned that two suspects were transported from the scene; one in critical condition, the other in serious condition. Police confirmed that one of those two suspects was shot by police, but it is unclear who shot the other one.

Two other people are being detained by police.

Another person, a female, was shot and killed on the I-35 service road, just south of the motel. Police have not said what events immediately led up to the woman's death.

Authorities shut down I-35 northbound, from SE 29th St. to the north to the I-240 junction to the south, for approximately three and a half hours while police investigated the scene. The highway was re-opened at 8:30 p.m. The exit to SW 29th St. remains closed.

Police say the woman who originally called them about the hostage situation is safe and in custody as well.

Details about the crime continue to pour in to the news room and the situation remains a fluid one. If you have any information, police are still looking for witnesses. Contact them at (405) 297-1126.
