City leaders held a groundbreaking Thursday in northwest Oklahoma City for a new development called Chisholm Creek.

The 190-acre site is located near Western and the Kilpatrick Turnpike.

It will feature retail, medical, residential and office space.

Chisholm Creek will be anchored by the $22 million St. Anthony Healthplex, which opens in February of 2015, as well as the state's first Cabela's and TopGolf.

"This is a Cabela's market," said John Castillo, Corporate Retail Affairs manager for Cabela's. "The hunting, the fishing, the outdoor lifestyle that exists throughout Oklahoma, it was too good an opportunity to pass up for us."

TopGolf officials said they chose Oklahoma City, because residents support local businesses and ventures.

"For us, being visible off the turnpike and visible off the Broadway Extension with our net poles is going to make it even that much more iconic," Zach Shor with TopGolf said.

The three companies alone will create more than 800 full and part-time jobs.

They are expected to bring more than 2 million visitors annually.

Chisholm Creek will also feature an indoor music venue that seats 2,700 people, an outdoor amphitheater, office buildings, a full-service hotel and residential properties all next to an 80-acre city park.

"It's really exciting, because this is more than just a retail development," said Roy Williams, Greater OKC Chamber president. "This is really kind of a lifestyle center, so that means it's going to be a destination."

Construction is booming in the entire area.

Main Event on the north side of the Kilpatrick Turnpike hopes to open its bowling, billiards and entertainment center next month.

"You really see the connection to 235, to the Broadway Extension, as well as to the turnpike, and there aren't many sites like that anywhere in the metropolitan area," Williams added.

After the St. Anthony Healthplex opens, Cabela's and TopGolf are expected to open in the fall of 2015.

In 90 days, Chisholm Creek developers will break ground on a complex called Tract 30 that will house retail stores and restaurants with patio spaces.

None of those retailers have been announced yet.
