FBI agents arrested an Oklahoma City attorney accused of traveling out of the country to have sex with children.

Friday, a federal grand jury indicted him with conspiracy for engaging in illicit acts in Peru.

The US attorney said Michael Billings is accused of traveling to Peru to have sex with children for over a decade.

Billings has previously admitted to News 9 he traveled there 30 times, but said it was just to go fishing.

“Multiple agency, multiple country, and multiple year investigation on Michael Billings,” said Box.

Since 2003, FBI agents say Oklahoma City attorney Michael Billings and others have recruited children in Peru to perform sexual acts.

In September of last year, Peruvian Media captured agents busting in on Billings' hotel room during one of those trips to Iquitos, Peru -- a known child sex tourism destination.

“When someone leaves the country, you go into a computer. If he's made 30-something trips to Peru over five or six years, I would assume that the government would think he's not going down fishing to Peru,” Box said.

We stopped by Billings Law office on NW 42nd and Classen.

He was arrested there early Friday.

Officials said Billings faces a three-count indictment.

  • Count 1 alleged conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of children/
  • Count 2 alleged conspiracy to travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
  • Count 3 alleged conspiracy to engage in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places.

Local attorney Irven Box said if Billings' case goes to trial, it could be a difficult one.

“Do they call in the actual minors who were involved the sex with Michael Billings? That's a question we'll see play out in the weeks and months,” said Box.

Online court documents show Billings pleaded not guilty during his arraignment today and that he was ordered held without bail pending a detention hearing scheduled for Monday.

If convicted, Billings faces up to life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and registration as a sex offender for life.
