Oklahoma Freshman running back Joe Mixon has entered an Alford plea after being charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly assaulting a woman, according to the Cleveland County District Attorney's office.
Thursday morning, Mixon entered an Alford Plea to a misdemeanor count of acts resulting in gross injury.
An Alford plea means that Mixon does not contest the charges. His attorneys believe the District Attorney has enough evidence to go to trial and convict, but they are not admitting guilt.
According to Assistant District Attorney Tyler Box, with this Alford plea, Mixon will not serve any jail time and has been ordered to one year probation. If he faces a criminal violation during his probation, he could end up serving up to a year in jail.
Kevin Finley, who represents Mixon, is not accepting calls at this time. But his office said a statement will be released Thursday afternoon.
Authorities said Mixon punched Amelia Molitor in the face following an argument at a Norman restaurant back in July.9/4/2014 Related Story: Media Members View Security Video In Mixon Assault Case
In September, the Norman Police Department allowed media members to view the security video of the incident that led to Mixon being charged with a misdemeanor.
Approximately 40 members of the media viewed the two and half minute video including News 9 Sports Director Dean Blevins, News 9 Reporter Lisa Monahan, and photojournalist Bo Turner.
Mixon has been suspended for the entire season. A statement from the university stated that Mixon will be excluded from all team activities, including being removed from the team roster. With appropriate conditions, he will be permitted to continue as a student, eligible for financial aid.

Statement from University of Oklahoma President David L. Boren:
"The judicial outcome and the video speak for themselves. The University is an educational institution, which always sets high standards that we hope will be upheld by our students. We hope that our students will all learn from those standards, but at the same time, we believe in second chances so that our students can learn and grow from life's experiences. As we have previously indicated, Joe Mixon will not play for our football team during the 2014 season, including postseason competitions. He will have an opportunity to earn his way back on the team during the spring semester."
