An explosion and car fire rattled an Oklahoma City neighborhood early Friday morning.
It happened in the 12000 block of Blue Moon Avenue, near N.W. 122nd and Council Road. We spoke with the man who owns the car shortly after he and his wife used a garden hose to put out the fire.
Mohamad El Samad, the owner of the car, said when he got home after watching the Thunder game at about 1:30 a.m., someone in his neighbor's driveway asked him for a ride to the closest liquor store. He said no and went inside his home where his family was asleep.
A short time later, Samad said he heard an explosion. And someone knocked on the door and said his car was on fire.
"As a human I would never in my mind think of doing such a thing. That's dark right there. That's evil," Samad said.
"I thought the house as on fire at first, because the flames were so big. We don't even have a water hose so I used the neighbor's water hose," Tricia Phillips said.
Fire crews said they found spray paint cans near the car which were likely what exploded. It's not certain if the person asking about the liquor store is the person who set the fire.
Understandably, Samad is shaken up over the whole thing. No one was hurt.
