A woman arrested in Pennsylvania on seven charges of child neglect awaits extradition to Pushmataha County.
34-year-old Sonia Kubisak was arrested and charged Wednesday, December 17, on seven counts of child neglect. One count is for each of her seven children which range in age 7 to 17 years.
In July 2014, Pushmataha County District Attorney's Office along with the OSBI investigated allegations of child neglect against Kubisak.
It was determined that Kubisak was living in tents with her seven children in a wooded area of Pushmataha County.
The children were assessed by a local nurse practitioner who diagnosed the children with multiple illnesses closely associated with neglect and malnutrition. The nurse notified the Department of Human Service about the child neglect.
Kubisak admitted to self-medicating the children with cattle wormer and using Frontline flea and tick medication for head lice.
She also told police she lived in the tents with the children from approximately March 2014 until August 2014.
Authorities found the scene of the tent camp and area covered with toilet paper, human feces, and a makeshift shower. Sacks of rotten animal feed were at the camp and the smell was unbearable.
Kubisak is currently being held in the Warren County Jail in Tionesta, Pennsylvania.
The children are in full time guardianship.
