Two Suspects On The Run Following Piedmont Pursuit

There are new details surrounding a chase and crash News 9 first reported Tuesday.

Right now, two suspects are still on the run. Piedmont Police say they're involved in two home burglaries.

At one point, News 9 was told by Piedmont Police that the suspects got away with several guns from a man's home.

But Wednesday, Piedmont Police Chief Scott Singer told News 9 no guns have been recovered or reported missing, at least at this point.

With guns drawn, police walked along rows of hay in a wooded area searching for three suspects involved in a short pursuit.

But days before the chase police said a home near Fina and 206th St., and a home in the area between Cemetery and Frisco Streets were burglarized, and police believe the three suspects have something to do with it.

“Hearing something like this is verydisconcertingg,” said Mark Rascovich.

Rascovich has lived in the area for nearly 20 years and said he can't remember anything like this happening near his home.

“We live in a very safe area here and nothing ever really happens, and that's one of the things I love about living here,” said Rascovish.

Tuesday afternoon around 2:00, is when a Piedmont police officer spotted an older model Nissan Maxima driving erratically on 206th Street.

Police said the driver told the officer his car overheated, and he had trouble driving.

“And seemed to be in a hurry to leave,” said Piedmont Chief of Police, Scott Singer.

Chief Singer said at some point, a front seat passenger got out on his own will, went to the patrol car and started talking to the officer.

“There were two other persons in the vehicle that the officer could see,” said Chief Singer. “One in the backseat, one in the front seat.”

Police said it was the backseat passenger who jumped into the front seat and started the chase.

The pursuit started northbound on Piedmont Road and ended just north of Waterloo because, the road dead ends.

That's when the car went into a field and crashed into a bale of hay and the suspects ran off.

Chief Singer does not consider the suspects at large to be dangerous, but if you have any information on their whereabouts, call Piedmont Police.
