A Cleveland County Sheriff's deputy is recovering after getting stabbed in the face while responding to a domestic violence situation at a home in Noble over the weekend.
Jimmy Quisenberry, 51, was charged with one count of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer for the attack.
According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the home just before 3 p.m. on Sunday, after a woman called and told authorities that Quisenberry, to whom she was married, had hit her and was destroying their home.
The woman also told the sheriff's office that she believed Quisenberry was high on drugs and that there was a firearm inside of the home.
When deputies arrived they found Quisenberry inside of the home. When they began to question him about the incident, they determined that he was in fact involved in a physical altercation with his wife.
While speaking with the deputies, Quisenberry said he wasn't feeling well and asked for an ambulance. The deputies began to speak to his wife, Quisenberry walked into a closet and refused to come out. According to the report, when the deputies forced the door open Quisenberry charged and stabbed one of them just under his right eye with a sharpened piece of plastic.
The deputies were able to subdue Quisenberry and placed him under arrest. The injured deputy drove himself to the hospital where he was treated and released.
Quisenberry was transported to the Cleveland County Detention Center. In addition to the charge for assaulting an officer, he was also charged for Assault and Battery on his wife. During their investigation, the deputies also learned that Quisenberry had an outstanding warrant for another domestic violence charge. He remains in the Cleveland County Jail.
