An Oklahoma City father was arrested on a child neglect complaint after police said he left his 3-month-old baby alone at home. Police said the baby was found unresponsive and later died at the hospital.
According to police, Thursday afternoon, officers responded to the report of an unresponsive child, later identified as 3-month-old King Barnes, in a baby swing at a home in the 700 block of S.E. 15th Street.
The child's father, 26-year-old Brandon Lamont Ross, reportedly told police that he had left with two other children, both three years old, to go to a friend's place, leaving the baby unattended.
Ross said when he came home, the place was ransacked and the baby was unresponsive.
The baby was transported to the hospital where he died. It is unclear at this time how long the baby was left alone for at the home.
Ross was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a complaint of child neglect. He's being held on $10,000 bond. However, police said the investigation is ongoing and that complaint could change.
According to police, Ross has a prior child abuse charge out of Del City.
