The Myriad Botanical Gardens in downtown OKC received $35K in grant money that will go toward educational walking tours and the purchase of new plants.
The Oklahoma City Community Foundation, through its Parks and Public Space initiative, rewarded the gardens with the grant money in an effort to help proved the gardens with programming in two of its core areas: botanical public education and wellness/fitness.
“We are so pleased to have received this grant,” said Gardens Executive Director, Maureen Heffernan. “We will now be able to offer docent-led and self-guided tours focused on two subjects: incorporating color spots in the garden and drought-resistant plantings.”
The walking tours will be free of charge and are expected to begin in late summer. Plantings will begin this spring.
