An attempted home burglary in far eastern Oklahoma City Friday morning, led to a woman shot and the man with her in police custody. Investigators are still interviewing the two suspects.

The homeowner told police he believed the two people on his property were the same ones who burglarized his home Thursday. He worried the two suspects were back to strike again when they showed up Friday morning.

Investigators kept the part of East Hefner Road blocked off Friday morning, while they collected evidence.

The homeowner told police a man approached him on his property around 8 a.m. He thought it was the same person who broke into his home the day before.

“Apparently there was some sort of confrontation between our homeowner and our suspects. One of the suspects apparently pulled out a knife threatened the homeowner,” said SSgt. Jennifer Wardlow, Oklahoma City Police.

Police said the homeowner fired several shots at the suspect's truck parked in his driveway. That man took off, but didn't make it far.

Officers found the truck broken down about two blocks away and took the suspect in to custody.

“During all of this there was a separate call that came out of a female that had been shot,” said Wardlow.

Police said the woman was in the passenger seat when the homeowner shot at the truck. They believe she flagged down someone driving by when the truck broke down.

Police told News 9 the homeowner is fully cooperating with investigators.

“If you're there he's on his property he feels threatened, he feels his life was threatened, he does have the right to defend himself,” said Wardlow.
