Two men suspected in a deadly home invasion and shooting were on the run Monday. And police said they are trying to figure out who they are. It happened near S.W. 67th Street and Villa Avenue just before 5 p.m. Monday. Police said it did not appear the couple living in their home knew the people who barged inside.
"I was in the backyard mowing,” one neighbor said.
Police said two black men drove up to a home. One stayed in the car, and the other one forced his way through the door.
“One victim had been physically assaulted and the other victim suffering from gunshot wound trauma,” Oklahoma City police officer Travis Vernire said. “At this time it appears the event was a result of a home invasion or burglary.”

But it did not go down as planned.
“They were confronted by residents inside the home,” Vernire said.
A man and a woman tried to stop the suspect, but the suspect physically assaulted the woman and shot the man. He was rushed to OU Medical Center, where he later died.
The woman was able to call 911, and police swarmed the house, but the suspects had already disappeared.
As crime tape went up, family members started showing up unaware of what happened inside the home. News 9 spoke with them, but out of respect will not show their faces.
Neighbors said a couple and their three children have been living in the home for a couple of years, and there were often a lot of people coming and going from the house.
Police said those children are safe and were not hurt. Meanwhile the search continues for the suspects responsible.
Officers said the suspects were driving a newer model tan or beige sedan. If you have any information, contact authorities
