Gun owners going to the Norman Music Festival can take their guns with them. Last week, a judge ruled the city cannot ban guns at the festival.

A hearing scheduled for Thursday morning for further discussion on the gun policy was continued. That mean's Friday's ruling will stand, allowing licensed gun owners to carry their weapons at this weekend's festival.

Norman's Main Street was still filled with cars speeding through on their way home from work Thursday evening.

Come Saturday night it will be filled with music lovers who could be carrying their weapons.

“Obviously there is no perfect fix, but I do believe that it's a good thing for people to be armed,” said John Robertson, plans to attend festival.

Last week, the Oklahoma Second Amendment Association filed a lawsuit asking that the City of Norman acknowledge state law and allow weapons by licensed carriers on festival grounds.

On the festival's website it read "DO NOT BRING weapons".

A policy the gun advocacy group called a violation on their rights. A Cleveland County judge agreed.

“We don't encourage anyone to come out there and gloat about the court victory. Just come out and have a good time,” said Tim Gillespie, Oklahoma Second Amendment Association President.

Gillespie hopes this weekend's event will shine a better light on Oklahomans who carry guns.

“Anybody that's got a permit has some training, they've been vetted. They are not bad people,” said Gillespie.

News of the judge's ruling isn't turning people away.

First time festival goer Connor White won't be bothered by the sight of guns during the concerts.

“Not by any means. I mean music is there to bring people together and make people feel something. So I feel like it will be a safe enough environment that it won't be an issue,” said Connor White, Plans to attend festival.

The sale of alcohol was one of the main issues for supporters of the no weapon's policy.

It is illegal for anyone carrying a weapon to drink.

Thursday's events mark the "kick off" of the music festival, which runs through Saturday.
